South Australian Cups


Balaklava Cup -- Balfs Choice is on fire this preparation and the Written Tycoon gelding added the listed Balaklava Cup on Wednesday to his resume. Trained by Ryan Balfour who got hold of the king of Western Australia jockey ranks, William Pike,  to ride his talented galloper. Pike went to the front on him and rated him beautifully to kick well clear down the straight and record a satisfying victory for Ryan.Who named the galloper after his father. He is out of the Celtic Swing mare Not Judes Choice who won four races in her career. Balf's Choice has now won five of his last six starts.


Marie Halidon Cup  -- The John Hickmont trained, 7 year old gelding, Danouli was given a dream ride by Raquel Clarke on Sunday. She sat the Danerich gelding up on the speed and as they straightened Clare Lindop aboard Halayr Rothestar issued a strong challenge but Raquel got everything out of Danouli to get it home by a head.

Dubbo Gold Cup -- Brazen, the five year old, Hinchinbrook gelding is out of the Belong To Me mare, Sirenese who won 7 of 27 starts, Brazen gained an inside run to take out the Dubbo Gold Cup . Clayton Gallagher rode and Brett Cavanough trained horse won the 1600m event .

Newcastle Gold Cup -- Tim Clark, took Broadside straight to the front in the early stages of the Newcastle Cup and set up a genuine tempo.Broadside looked in trouble at the top of the straight but kept on finding and .Trainer Adrian Bott confirmed that Broadside would head to the Group 1 The Metropolitan before potentially heading to Melbourne for the Group 1 Caulfield Cup and the Group 1 Melbourne Cup 3200m.Broadside is by the son of Sadlers Wells , Raise The Flag who stands at New Zealands, White Robe Lodge Farm.
