Denman and Sebring Star Stallions This Week

  • Sunshine Coast -- The opening two year old Maiden on Sunday was won by the Magnus colt Magnufighter who is out of a Bel Esprit mare.While the best winner of the day was Lipstick Lover in the 1600m 3 year old hcp. The I Am Invincible colt could easily win stronger races in the future.

  • New South Wales-- At Wagga the 2yo Inglis Bonus Hcp was won by Grandioso the Sebring gelding who is trained by Lee Freedman. Cessnock races we saw the BM 55 over 1600m won by the Reset filly Lady Evelyn.  
  • South Australia -- While apprentice Brandon Griffiths won 5 races at the Sunday meeting at Port Augusta. It was  Jeff Maund who rode Its Humphrey to victory.The 4yo gelding by Hard Spun out of the Snippets mare Februarytwelve won the benchmark 64 .  At Balaclava last wednesday the 2200m benchmark 64 was won by Gun Guru the 3yo gelding is by Al Maher. 1000m BM64 winner was the Street Cry gelding Affray the runner up was an I Am Invincible 3yo filly Show Bender. All are worth following.

    Country Racing Week of the 29/04/2017


    •      Moe Racecourse is situated in the Latrobe Valley, 137 kms east of Melbourne. The course is lined with beautiful gardens and lawns and has clear views of the nearby Baw Baw Mountains. Moe Racing Club is one of the oldest established clubs in Victoria and dates back to the 1800’s. During the Melbourne spring carnival the club has two of its big days the Moe Gold Cup and the Melbourne Cup Day meeting run on the first Tuesday of November each year attracting large crowds. 
    • The Anzac Day meeting is held as a support meeting for the big Flemington traditional meeting where the running of the St Leger takes place. The St Leger has been held at Flemington since 1857 and has been won by some of the champions of Australian thoroughbred racing including Phar Lap and Tulloch.

    The Lonrho stallion produces some OK wet trackers probably due to that Mr Prospector line through Straight Strike, on Lonrho''s dam side.
    •     Hawkesbury is located just outside the Sydney metropolitan area. The running of the Hawkesbury Gold Cup began in 1980 and was won by Peninsula. In 2015 it was moved from the spring to Autumn in an effort to attract top class horses at the end of their Sydney carnival preparation.Its a Group 3 1600m event with prize money of $200,000.
